May 24, 2024, Press Release from the Office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost: (COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost today released the 2023 Ohio Missing Children Clearinghouse Report in recognition of National Missing Children’s Day, which occurs annually on May 25. The clearinghouse documented 22,374 people missing in 2023 – 1,757 more than the year before. Of those, 17,405 were reports of missing children – 1,950 more than the previous year. Thankfully, authorities reported that 98% of the missing children – 17,033 of them – were recovered safely by the year’s end. Open-source data revealed that five of the children reported missing were found deceased in 2023.
