The Friends of the Mercer County District Library will be having the first book sale of the year. The event will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, and Saturday, May 4, 2024. The hours of the book sale are Friday, May 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The book sale is in the Book Barn across the alley to the north of the library and behind Marilyn Frahm Memorial Park.
For 15 years, the school has hosted three blood drives per school year to help aid the American Red Cross and the national blood supply. The teen leadership group at LCC was instrumental in getting the blood drive set up as students went out into local neighborhoods, businesses, and schools to spread the word about the drive and get residents to step up along with the students.
January is Ohio Blood Donor Awareness Month and Solvita Blood Center held their community blood drive today at St. Rita's Medical Center. According to data, the United States is experiencing the lowest number of people giving blood in the last 20 years. Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood but only about 3% of the U.S. population is donating blood. With blood in such short supply, Solvita is happy to see locals giving the gift that keeps on giving with blood donations and helping fight the blood shortage.
On Thursday, October 19th, there will be two sessions to choose from. The sessions will cover civil service test information with sample questions, test-taking strategies, and open position information. You can attend at 11 a.m. or at 3 p.m. at Ohio Means Jobs at 951 Commerce Drive.
