Grilling season officially kicks off on  Memorial Day weekend, and fire officials are trying to head off any potential problems with some sage advice and safety tips.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, July is the peak month for grill fires. Nearly one-fifth of those fires are caused by grills that haven’t been cleaned.
