The Lima Rotary Club and Mercy Health Saint Rita’s continue their decades-long partnership through the MESA program, sending incubators and medical equipment to developing countries. The donations support infant health and provide critical resources to clinics and hospitals in need.
Dr. JJ Sreenan, program director of community medicine for the MD Track at Ohio State College of Medicine, said the program is expanding health services across the region.
“We've expanded our physician services and family medicine throughout the area. We have several staying here in the hospitalist service not just at St. Rita's either. Some of them are in the region and at some of the other local hospitals as well.”
Thousands of dollars were donated to a local food pantry aiming to ensure area veterans do not go hungry. A little over $3,700 was donated to the Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio. The money was raised by Reineke Family Dealerships and the Lima UAW Local 1219 during their 7th annual Veterans’ Car Show earlier in October.
A 17-year-old Logan County girl was seriously injured in a north Lima shooting early Saturday when multiple male subjects fired guns at the SUV she was riding in, police said.
