August 14, 2024, Press Release from the Office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost: (COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost today urged a federal court to toss an antitrust lawsuit brought by the Federal Trade Commission to block a merger between Kroger and Albertsons. In an amicus brief filed today with a U.S. District Court in Oregon, Yost and three other state attorneys general ask the court to let Kroger’s acquisition of Albertsons proceed. Yost and his counterparts contend that the FTC’s opposition to the deal is based on a flawed understanding of the marketplace in which the two retailers operate.

More Lima locations were added to the list of Rite Aid pharmacies closing after the company filed for bankruptcy last year. In a new list of closures filed with the federal bankruptcy court, Rite Aid on the corner of Elm and Eastown Road and also the store on the corner of Shawnee and Breese Road will be closing this fall. Those Lima locations, along with the one on Robb Avenue, are three of the five Rite Aid stores listed with a Lima address. The store in Saint Marys has also been placed on the list to close.

Rite Aid has announced that more stores will be permanently closing across Ohio including one locally. According to documents from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, the Rite Aid location at 1502 Executive Drive in St. Marys was included on that closure list with the store already putting up signs saying that everything must go.
