May 7, 2024, Press Release from Crime Victim Services: The statistics are astounding. Here in Putnam County, over 20% of residents report having been abused in the past.  The most common forms of abuse include verbal and emotional, sexual, physical and financial.  Unfortunately, this is something that is experienced across the country. 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men endure intimate partner physical violence, sexual violence, or stalking, as reported by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Meanwhile, the National Survey of Children’s Exposure to Violence reveals that 1 in 15 children in the United States witness physical intimate partner violence annually.
