A motorcyclist was killed after his bike drove off a curve in rural Mercer County.  22-year-old Austin Bussell of Maineville, Ohio died from injuries he sustained in a crash that happened on SR 119 near the Indiana state line just before 2:30 pm on Saturday.   According to deputies, Bussell was heading east when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road and ran off the south side of the roadway.  He was transported to Mercer Health in Coldwater, where he was pronounced dead.  The crash remains under investigation.

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Bellefontaine Avenue. A motorcycle driver was heading west and was struck by a vehicle that turned in front of them as the vehicle was turning into a parking lot. The driver of the motorcycle was taken to Lima Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. The crash report is not complete and names have not been released.

According to the patrol, during the past five years (2016-2020) 873 motorcyclists died and 4,810 were seriously injured in traffic crashes in the state of Ohio.  With spring around the corner, the highway patrol wants to remind drivers to practice safety. In addition, motorcyclists, as well as regular drivers, should practice safety and remain aware of each other on Ohio Roadways.
