July 29, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol: July 29, 2024 – On July 24, 2024, Clayton Hughes, 26, Blacklick, was indicted by the Montgomery County Grand Jury for killing four men and seriously injuring a fifth in a crash on April 1, 2024. Hughes was located at a residence in Warren, New Jersey. Today, July 29, Hughes was taken into custody at that residence without incident. He is currently in custody locally at Somerset County Jail in New Jersey, awaiting extradition back to Ohio. The Dayton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating two-separate crashes; a two-vehicle hit-skip crash and a two-vehicle quadruple fatal crash that followed the hit-skip crash. The initial two-vehicle hit-skip crash occurred at approximately 2:10 p.m., on Interstate 70 near milepost 32 in Butler Township, Montgomery County. The second two-vehicle quadruple fatal crash occurred at approximately 2:18 p.m. at the intersection of Terminal Road and Boeing Drive in Dayton, Montgomery County.
