A new feature at one local school this year could be the key in saving lives. Lima Central Catholic High School installed door barricade devices in every office and classroom. The "Nightlock" is part of their updated safety plan mandated by the Ohio Department of Education. In the event of an intruder, teachers and students will be able to take the locking mechanism and place it in the lock and entry to the room is made more difficult if not almost impossible. The two styles, floor or door lockdowns are installed at a level intruders can't reach. School officials say they're making sure everyone in the building knows how to use them.
