It is the second weekend of June, and that means a beloved Allen County festival makes its annual return! The Harrod Pork Rind Festival kicked off Friday drawing in large numbers of people into the village. Organizers were busy at work frying up homemade pork rinds on site. After festival goers grabbed their bag of pork rinds, plenty of other summer fair food delicacies, performances, and games were available for people to enjoy- all things people from near and far look forward to each year.

As we continue to see the widespread effects that the Coronavirus is causing, local hog producers are running into major issues.

BrennCo Inc. out of Van Wert is used to moving more than 2,500 hogs a week to food plants for processing. This past week, the two plants that BrennCo would sell to have either slowed down their production, or stopped it all together. The Tyson Plant in Indiana is one of them.

BrennCo is now selling their hogs locally in hopes to save thousands of them from being euthanized and keep pork on the tables of families in the area.
