“Very excited to have this off the ground. Over the next couple of months, they'll be shifting from county employees county office to a state entity,” Noonan said. “There shouldn't be any hiccup in the service. Nobody should notice any type of difference to this, but it will become more efficient, both in the services being provided and financially for the citizens of our area.”

Today, former Allen County Assistant Prosecutor Kenneth Sturgill started as Allen County Public Defender. He spent 8 years at the prosecutor’s office and was eager to apply for the position. His first order of business is to hire a Chief Assistant to help get the office up and running. He feels his experience in the courtroom has prepared him to create a more efficient system with a full-time public defender’s office.
