Cenovus Energy’s Lima Refinery donated $15,000 to the Apollo Educational Foundation to support career training and workforce development for students at Apollo Career Center. The funding will help students participate in programs like SkillsUSA competitions, which allow them to showcase and strengthen their trade skills.
Young people from across the region tested their spelling skills at The Lima News’ 2026 Regional Spelling Bee. Students ranging from fourth through eighth grade traveled from Allen County and several surrounding counties to compete for the title of top speller.

Apollo hosted the 2025-26 SkillsUSA Ohio Northwest Regional competitions. 66 Apollo students were among approximately 500 students from 20 career and technical centers who competed.
