Some visitors of the Colonial Motel will have to make new arrangements after a fire broke out in one of the rooms this afternoon(11/19/19). American Township Fire Department was called to the motel on Elida Road. They found heavy smoke and fire coming from a single room. The people staying there got out themselves, but the fire department had to evacuate a room next door, as well. No injuries were reported, but the fire chief says there's extensive damage to the room and smoke damage throughout the entire building.

A woodworking shop on West State Road in American Township is now damaged after a suspected electrical fire. The American Township Fire and the surrounding area fire departments responded to the 2nd alarm fire around 7 p.m. on Monday. When they arrived they were able to put out the fire. However, the fire did damage the storage room on the upper level of the shop. The fire chief says he doesn't believe foul play was involved.
