A multiple vehicle crash just south of Van Wert leaves 2 people dead. The state highway patrol has not released details about the crash as of Monday afternoon.  But the crash happened before noon on U.S. 127 by the hickory Sicks Golf Course.  There were three vehicles involved in the crash, more details are expected after the next of kin are notified. 

A car and semi-truck collision occurred in Van Wert County Thursday morning. Just before 8 a.m., a Honda Civic operated by 53-year-old Scott Rockhold of Urbana was northbound on U.S. 127. Rockhold was slowing down to turn westbound onto Wren-Landeck Road when a northbound semi operated by Egues Leon Victor of Bradenton, Florida, failed to maintain an assured distance.

The first official day of its replacement is today as the new bridge was opened to traffic following a public ceremony. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), Defiance County Economic Development, and Paulding County Economic Development, Inc. held a ribbon cutting today on the bridge to recognize a significant piece of highway infrastructure that will stand in the picturesque landscape south of the village of Sherwood for many years.

It's common sense pay attention while driving, but area law enforcement say too many drivers are not. Stats from 2013-15 show increased fatalities on U.S. 127 due to lane violations when drivers go left of center or drive of the road.
