January 16, 2025, Press Release from the Preble County Sheriff's Office: Preble County deputies are investigating a 2-vehicle head-on crash that occurred in the 4000 block of US 127, north of Eaton. The crash occurred at approximately 9:13 A.M. this morning. The preliminary investigation found that a 2017 Dodge Ram pick-up was traveling northbound, driven by a 46-year-old Darke County man. According to witnesses, his truck traveled left of center and struck a southbound 2025 Freightliner semi tractor/trailer, driven by a 58-year-old Lima man.

A multiple vehicle crash just south of Van Wert leaves 2 people dead. The state highway patrol has not released details about the crash as of Monday afternoon.  But the crash happened before noon on U.S. 127 by the hickory Sicks Golf Course.  There were three vehicles involved in the crash, more details are expected after the next of kin are notified.

A car and semi-truck collision occurred in Van Wert County Thursday morning. Just before 8 a.m., a Honda Civic operated by 53-year-old Scott Rockhold of Urbana was northbound on U.S. 127. Rockhold was slowing down to turn westbound onto Wren-Landeck Road when a northbound semi operated by Egues Leon Victor of Bradenton, Florida, failed to maintain an assured distance.

May 17, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Transportation: LIMA, Ohio - (Friday, May 17, 2024) It was 1946 when the former bridge on U.S. 127 over the Maumee River was constructed. The first official day of its replacement is today as the new bridge was opened to traffic following a public ceremony. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), Defiance County Economic Development, and Paulding County Economic Development, Inc. held a ribbon cutting today on the bridge to recognize a significant piece of highway infrastructure that will stand in the picturesque landscape south of the village of Sherwood for many years.
