Lima Safety City is continuing its nearly 50-year tradition of teaching more than 300 children each summer about personal, home, traffic, outdoor and school safety. Former graduates now return as volunteers, helping ensure the long-running program continues to serve the next generation of local children.

St. Marys City Council is considering legislation that would require minors to wear helmets while riding a bicycle, electric bicycle, or any low-speed micro-mobility device.
“Not everybody has access to get to providers, to get to resources. So this event really is in the heart of downtown Lima area, and is in walking distance of a lot of different neighborhoods and it all. It puts it all in one spot,” said Catherine Lusky, community health coordinator at Mercy Health–St. Rita’s.
