LIMA, OH (WLIO) — Bath High School overcame a slow start in the second set to earn a 3-1 victory over Van Wert in Western Buckeye League volleyball action Wednesday night, winning 25-18, 26-24, 18-25, 25-17.
The Wildcats (3-1) took the opening set before Van Wert responded with urgency in the second, jumping out to an 8-0 lead behind the aggressive play of Amaya Dowdy. The Cougars extended their lead to 12-6 when Brissia Ickes set up Addison Wallace for a kill, pushing the advantage to seven.
But Bath stormed back, sparked by senior Sophie Jackson. Trailing 13-8, Jackson delivered a momentum-shifting kill and followed it with a perfectly placed ace to energize the home crowd. The Wildcats completed the comeback to win the set 26-24 and regain control of the match.
Bath carried that momentum into the fourth, closing out the match with a 25-17 win to improve their early-season record. Van Wert (0-4) remains in search of its first win of the season.
