BLUFFTON (WLIO) — Bluffton was unable to flip the script in its home rematch with Mount St. Joseph, falling 53-46 after coming up just short of closing the gap late.

The Beavers entered the matchup looking to avenge a 53-48 loss to Mount St. Joseph from their first meeting back on December 3.

In the third quarter, Bluffton trailed by nine when freshman Macee Heckathorn sparked a response. After an offensive rebound, the Kenton native turned and knocked down a fallaway jumper. Heckathorn finished with six points on the night.

Later in the quarter, Madison Brown provided another lift. Working from beyond the three-point line, Brown took a couple dribbles, stopped, and hit the jumper, pulling Bluffton within seven. Brown also scored six points.

In the fourth quarter, Heckathorn stayed active on the glass, grabbing another offensive rebound and converting the putback. She finished with six rebounds to go along with her scoring effort.

Despite the push, Bluffton couldn’t fully close the gap, as Mount St. Joseph held on for the 53-46 victory.
