WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) — Celina moved to 2–0 in Western Buckeye League play Thursday night with a 58–36 win over Wapakoneta, using strong outside shooting and timely defense to secure an early spot atop the conference standings alongside Bath and Ottawa-Glandorf.
Celina opened up a double-digit lead in the second quarter when Rachel Rammel knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Bulldogs control.
Wapakoneta responded moments later as junior Dylan Paul hit a mid-range jumper to keep the Redskins within reach. Abby Houser added a 3-pointer for Wapak, briefly closing the gap.
But Celina’s defense halted the surge. Alexa Pearson jumped a passing lane for a steal and converted a layup at the other end, helping the Bulldogs regain momentum.
Celina maintained its lead throughout the second half and closed out the 22-point victory.
