DELPHOS (WLIO) — Columbus Grove used a massive third inning to pull away from Delphos Jefferson for a 16-1 win in five innings.
The Bulldogs took control in the top of the third. Michael King brought home Jacob Riker with a suicide squeeze, and Carsten Schroeder followed with another bunt that plated a run while reaching safely at first. Brady Basinger later added a two-run single to left as Columbus Grove piled up nine runs in the inning.
Jefferson eventually got out of the frame with a strong defensive play from center fielder Tyler Wiseman, who threw out a runner trying to take third for the final out.
In the bottom half, Ben Frymire-Lavigne recorded a single to left for the Wildcats, but Columbus Grove’s big third inning proved too much to overcome.
