KALIDA (WLIO) — Columbus Grove used a combination of strong pitching and defense to secure a 9-3 win over Kalida in Putnam County League action.
Kalida’s Addie Brokamp kept things close early, striking out six batters and holding the Bulldogs scoreless in the second inning.
Columbus Grove answered in the third when Mariah Schroeder’s ground ball plated Avery Birnesser to extend the lead to 3-0.
The Bulldogs’ defense also made an impact, highlighted by Lillian Ledford’s unassisted double play in the fourth inning.
In the circle, Dakota Dunn went the distance for Columbus Grove, allowing no earned runs while striking out three to lead the Bulldogs to the win.
