MARIA STEIN (WLIO) ... Marion Local enters the 2026 season motivated after last year's Division VII regional final loss to St. Henry ended the Flyers' run of four consecutive state championships and a 76-game winning streak.

Head coach Tim Goodwin begins his 28th season with a roster featuring just four returning starters on each side of the ball. Among them is second-year quarterback Brennen Hess, who will help lead a team looking to reload after another deep postseason run.

The Flyers open the season at home against Carey before traveling to Harvest Prep in Week 2. Midwest Athletic Conference play begins the following week, with a highly anticipated rematch against St. Henry set for Week 6.

While Marion Local continues to develop its identity with a young roster, Goodwin says the program's physical, disciplined brand of Flyer football will remain the standard.
