MARIA STEIN — In MAC country, dominance has a familiar name: Marion Local.
Winners of 16 state championships and riding a 64-game winning streak, the Flyers are preparing for a new chapter in 2025. The last time Marion Local lost a football game was back in 2020. Since then, the program has stacked four straight 16-0 seasons and four more state titles.
But this fall presents a unique challenge.
With 18 seniors graduated and just three returning starters, the Flyers face a massive retooling effort across the field. Head coach Tim Goodwin, now entering his 27th season at the helm, says the program’s identity still centers around defense — and that’s where the development must begin.
If Marion Local’s next wave can grow up fast, don’t be surprised if the streak keeps rolling into November once again.
