COLDWATER, Ohio — The Coldwater Cavaliers are back on top.

After a 9-1 regular season that ended with a loss to Marion Local, the Cavaliers rebounded in dominant fashion — stringing together six straight playoff wins and capturing the eighth state championship in program history. It marked their first title since 2020 and their second since moving up to Division VI.

But entering 2025, the challenge is clear: replacing experience with potential.

Coldwater graduated 15 seniors from last year’s team — most of them starters — including their starting quarterback. Head coach Chip Otten, now in his 16th year leading the program, says it starts with finding stability under center as the Cavaliers look to defend their title.

With MAC competition always tough, Coldwater's ability to reload will determine if another deep playoff run is in the cards.
