ST. HENRY (WLIO) ... The defending Division VII state champion St. Henry Redskins enter the 2026 season with a new division, new leaders and the same championship expectations.

St. Henry finished 14-1 last season and placed second in the Midwest Athletic Conference. The Redskins' only conference loss came to Marion Local before they avenged it in the Division VII regional final, ending the Flyers' 76-game winning streak on their way to a state title.

The Redskins move up to Division VI this fall after graduating 13 seniors, including Division VII Player of the Year Charlie Werling. Junior quarterback Landon Schwartz is expected to take over under center for a young St. Henry squad.

The Redskins open the season on the road against Celina before beginning Midwest Athletic Conference play in Week 3. A highly anticipated rematch with Marion Local is scheduled for Week 6.

Entering his third season, head coach Josh Werling says this year's group is young, hungry and determined to live up to the high standard established by the program.
