CELINA, Ohio (WLIO)— In a battle of the Bulldogs, Elida used a strong second-half surge to defeat Celina 45-21 on Friday night in Western Buckeye League play.
Both teams entered the game looking for their third conference win of the season. Celina had won five of the last eight matchups in the series, but Elida flipped the script with a dominant road performance.
After falling behind 7-0 early, Elida answered in the first quarter with a rushing touchdown from Jonan Snyder to tie the game.
Celina regained the lead in the second quarter when quarterback Parker Wynk found Brodee Schulte-Arnold for a touchdown, making it 14-7 in favor of the home team.
But Elida took control from there. Snyder connected with Shane Goebel for a key touchdown, and the visitors never looked back, outscoring Celina 38-7 the rest of the way.
With the win, Elida improves in the WBL standings, while Celina will look to regroup in the final stretch of the season.
