HAMLER, Ohio (WLIO) — Leipsic is heading to the regional semifinals after a dominant performance in the Division VII Northwest 2 District championship game.

The Vikings shut out Edgerton 10-0 on Saturday in Hamler to secure a district title and continue their postseason run.

Leipsic's defense came through in the opening inning when pitcher Aaron Hazelton stranded the bases loaded, striking out back-to-back Bulldogs to keep the game scoreless.

The Vikings broke through in the second inning. Myles Camareno singled to put runners on base before Julian Zuniga was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, forcing home the game's first run. Later in the inning, an Edgerton throwing error allowed two more runners to score as Leipsic built a 3-0 lead.

The Vikings added to their advantage in the third when John Dewar delivered an RBI single, bringing Hazelton home from second base.

Leipsic continued to pull away from there, rolling to a 10-0 victory.

With the win, the Vikings advance to the regional semifinals, where they will face New Riegel in Bowling Green on Wednesday, June 3 at 2 p.m.
