ELIDA — Payton Liles scored the game-winner with under five minutes left to play as Bath edged rival Elida 2-1 in Western Buckeye League boys soccer Tuesday night.
The Wildcats struck early, with Levi Grime capitalizing in the opening minutes after a rebound off the keeper put Bath up 1-0. Elida answered midway through the first half when Zane Solomon sent in a free kick that found Colton Rader, who buried the equalizer to make it 1-1.
Both defenses tightened until late in the match, when Liles unleashed a long-distance shot that found the back of the net for the decisive goal.
Bath improves to 3-4-1 overall and 1-1 in the WBL, while Elida drops to 2-5 and 0-2 in league play.
