LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Week Two of the high school football season wrapped up Saturday night with another chapter of the Holy War at Spartan Stadium as Lima Central Catholic took on Delphos St. John's.

The Thunderbirds' defense set the tone early.

Nick Gaynier took the handoff and swept toward the outside, but LCC's Eddie White made the tackle for a loss.

St. John's answered with a big play of its own as Christian Young cut outside, used a stiff arm and powered through another would-be tackler for a big gain.

But LCC's offense took over from there.

Junior Carter Lester broke loose for a 26-yard touchdown run to put the Thunderbirds ahead 7-0.

Later in the first quarter, Lausen Flores followed his blockers around the outside and scored on a 15-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 14-0.

LCC's defense continued to make plays as Jordan Neal read a St. John's pass perfectly and nearly came away with an interception, settling for the pass breakup.

Late in the second quarter, White delivered another big play for the Thunderbirds, breaking off a strong run down to the 1-yard line before punching it into the end zone on the next play.

LCC led 28-0 at halftime and continued to control the game in the second half.

The Thunderbirds went on to shut out the Blue Jays 41-0.
