LIMA (WLIO) — The Lima Senior girls soccer team opened conference play in convincing fashion, overwhelming the Bulldogs 12-1 in their home opener Tuesday night.

Already ahead 2-0 in the first half, Angela Fronzaglia extended the lead by converting from the penalty spot. Fronzaglia then turned provider, setting up Alexandra Saavedra, who buried a volley to make it 4-0.

The junior standout wasn’t done, adding another goal of her own moments later. Saavedra followed with a highlight strike from 20 yards out, placing it just beyond the goalkeeper’s reach.

By the final whistle, eight different Spartans found the back of the net as Lima Senior put together a dominant offensive performance.

The Spartans improve to 1-0 in Toledo City League play, while the Bulldogs search for answers after a difficult start.
