KETTERING, Ohio (WLIO) — It was a weekend filled with elite high school basketball, and the Lima Senior Spartans rose to the challenge at the 23rd annual Flyin’ to the Hoop Invitational.

Playing at Trent Arena on the campus of Kettering Fairmont High School, Lima Senior faced a tough test against Brunswick, the No. 6 team in Division I. With talent from eight different states and dozens of Division I prospects in the building, the Spartans showed they belonged on one of Ohio’s biggest stages.

Lima Senior struck first when Shawn Foster drove the lane and found Willie Foster for the opening basket of the game. Noah Simpson followed with a strong offensive showing, using a pump fake to create space and knock down a mid-range jumper as the Spartans took a 16–14 lead after the first quarter.

In the second, Simpson continued his hot shooting with a straight-away three. Amari Addy pushed the tempo on the fast break later in the quarter, tossing an alley-oop to Elynn Stearns to give Lima Senior a six-point edge at halftime.

The Spartans pulled away in the second half. Willie Foster found Stearns again for a two-handed finish in the third, and moments later Foster spun through traffic for a bucket of his own as Lima Senior built a 14-point lead.

Simpson led all scorers with 17 points, while Willie Foster added 13 in the win. Lima Senior stayed in control down the stretch and closed out a 61–51 victory over Brunswick.

With the win, the Spartans — the No. 3 team in Division II — improve to 10–1 on the season.
