FORT LORAMIE, Ohio (WLIO) — Two 13-7 squads squared off in a tightly contested non-conference battle as Marion Local traveled to Fort Loramie. The Flyers entered looking to replicate last season’s 37-30 win over the Redskins — and needed extra time to do it.
Marion Local struck first with Emersyn Mescher knocking down a three-pointer to give the Flyers an early lead.
Fort Loramie answered right back. Liza Poeppelman attacked off the dribble and finished at the rim for her first points of the night, keeping the game within reach.
The Flyers continued to battle on the glass. Clare Bruns missed inside but grabbed her own rebound and converted the putback to put Marion Local back in front by three.
Later on, Olivia Brandewie found Corynn Hoelscher, who buried a mid-range jumper to keep the Flyers rolling offensively.
And moments afterwards, Faith Ronnebaum took control. She powered through contact, finished the basket and completed the three-point play to give Marion Local the edge once more.
But this one wouldn’t be settled in regulation. The Flyers secure a 37-33 overtime victory over Fort Loramie.
