BATH — Bath’s Mikey Hale delivered a career night, scoring six total touchdowns as the Wildcats pulled away for a 42-17 win over Elida in Western Buckeye League action Friday.
Hale, who finished with five rushing touchdowns and one receiving score, was the difference maker in a game that saw Bath improve to 5-1 on the season.
The Wildcats built their lead in the third quarter when quarterback Zach Welsch connected with Hale on a deep pass to set up a short touchdown run. Hale added another score moments later to stretch the advantage to 28-10.
Elida responded with a trick play, as wide receiver Cameron Kaufman took a direct snap and followed his blockers into the end zone to trim the deficit to 28-17.
But Bath quickly regained control behind its offensive line, opening holes for Hale, who added two more rushing touchdowns in the second half to seal the victory.
The Wildcats move to 4-1 in league play, while Elida drops to 3-3.
