MILLER CITY, Ohio (WLIO) — Two of the area’s top girls basketball programs met in Putnam County as Miller City squared off against Wayne Trace in a non-conference battle.
The Wildcats entered the matchup with a 15-2 record and wasted little time setting the tone. Freshman Sophia Ruck opened the game with a three-pointer, and moments later senior Kiera Ruhe followed with a triple from the same spot to give Miller City an early 8-0 lead.
Wayne Trace looked to answer as senior Lexi Moore attacked the basket, finishing through contact for an and-one opportunity. Moore converted the free throw to pull the Raiders within five.
Miller City continued to apply pressure on both ends of the floor. Following a turnover, Vivian Otto found Elizabeth Erford for a layup as the Wildcats pulled further away.
Miller City cruised to a 59-24 victory, improving to 16-2 on the season, while Wayne Trace falls to 14-4.
