Russia rolls past Seneca East to reach first state championship game in program history

WRIGHT STATE (WLIO) — Russia is headed to its first state championship game in program history after defeating Seneca East 45-30 in the Division VII state semifinal at the Nutter Center.
The Raiders overcame an early deficit and took control in the opening quarter behind Callie Goubeaux and Arayana Cordonnier, who finished with a team-high nine points. Russia led 10-6 after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 22-9 by halftime.
Cam Schafer added eight points for the Raiders, while Celeste Borchers and Kylie Doseck each contributed seven. Hazel Francis also provided a key basket and three-point play during the second half as Russia continued to pull away.
With the win, Russia advances to Saturday’s Division VII state championship game at UD Arena, where the Raiders will face Strasburg-Franklin at 10:45 a.m.
