Lima — Shawnee used a strong fourth quarter to pull away from Celina on Wednesday night, earning a 66–48 win in a Western Buckeye League girls basketball matchup.

Celina entered the night 3–1 in league play, sitting just behind Ottawa-Glandorf and Bath in the WBL standings, while Shawnee looked to even its league record at home.

The Bulldogs struck first as senior Rachel Rammel squared up and knocked down a jumper to open the scoring. Shawnee answered quickly, with Alexis Whetstone working around the perimeter before finding sophomore Mya Williams for a three. Williams finished with 12 points.

Whetstone returned the favor moments later, draining a straightaway triple of her own as both teams traded baskets early. Celina stayed in the fight with Lilly Shreffler slicing through the defense for a tough finish at the rim.

Shawnee’s ball movement began to take over as the game went on. Aryn Jackson capped one of the Indians’ possessions by pulling up and connecting, helping Shawnee create separation late.

The Indians pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure the 66–48 victory, improving their position in the Western Buckeye League race.
