NEW BREMEN, Ohio (WLIO) — St. Henry picked up a key MAC road victory on Thursday night, defeating New Bremen 44–32 behind a fast start and a balanced effort on both ends of the floor.

Early in the first quarter, Karlee Buschur worked to find an opening and delivered a clean pass to Ava Homan, who cut to the basket and finished off the glass to put the Redskins up by six. Minutes later, New Bremen responded as Halle Kuenning cleaned up a miss under the rim, bringing the Cardinals within 13–4.

The Cardinals continued to chip away when Allie Bornhorst fed Maria Kramer, and the freshman knocked down a jumper to cut the deficit to single digits.

But St. Henry regained control in the second quarter. Buschur grabbed her own rebound and scored on the putback, pushing the Redskins’ lead to 11. Moments later, Morgan Baumer led a St. Henry fast break, splitting the defense for another score as the Redskins maintained momentum.

St. Henry kept New Bremen at arm’s length throughout the second half and closed out a 44–32 victory, improving their early-season standing in a competitive MAC.
