NEW BREMEN, Ohio (WLIO) — A dominant performance in the circle helped St. Marys secure a road win over New Bremen in early-season softball action.

The Lady Riders wasted no time building their lead. In the second inning, Adyson Van De Keere delivered a base hit into center field, driving in a run to extend St. Marys’ advantage to 4-1.

New Bremen answered in the following frame. Mariana Muether laid down a sacrifice bunt that turned into a fielder’s choice, and after an errant throw into center field, Olivia Thornton raced home from first to cut the deficit to 4-2.

But from there, it was all Van De Keere in the circle.

The senior went the distance, striking out nine batters over seven innings to keep the Cardinals in check and preserve the lead.

St. Marys holds on for the 4-2 victory, improving its early-season momentum, while New Bremen drops a competitive matchup at home.
