RAWSON, OH — Upper Scioto Valley earned its first win of the season in emphatic fashion Friday night, shutting out Cory-Rawson 40-0 on the road. Both teams entered the Week 2 matchup looking to bounce back from season-opening losses, but it was the Rams who took control early and never looked back. USV threatened to score on its opening drive, but a fumble at the 1-yard line — forced by Cory-Rawson senior Levi Rutherford and recovered by Hayden Walters — gave the Hornets a brief spark on defense. However, Cory-Rawson failed to capitalize, turning the ball over on the ensuing possession. From there, it was all Upper Scioto Valley. Quarterback Caiden Lowery put the Rams on the board with a rushing touchdown, showcasing his speed and field vision with help from strong blocking. A successful two-point conversion made it 8-0. Lowery then showed off his arm, connecting on a deep touchdown pass to Hunter Damron to extend the lead to 16-0 at halftime. The Rams continued to dominate in the second half, piling on 24 more unanswered points while keeping the Hornets off the scoreboard. With the win, USV moves to 1-1 on the season. Cory-Rawson, still in search of its first victory, falls to 0-2.
