WAYNESFIELD, Ohio (WLIO) — Upper Scioto Valley continued its dominance in the series with Waynesfield-Goshen, pulling away late for a 53-45 victory Friday night.
The Rams, who have now won 18 straight games against the Tigers, set the tone early in the first quarter behind the shooting of Hunter Damron.
Damron opened the scoring with a 3-pointer and later connected again from the top of the key to keep Upper Scioto Valley in front.
Waynesfield-Goshen answered throughout the opening period as Turner Thompson attacked the basket for a layup to tie the game and later knocked down a 3-pointer as the Tigers stayed within striking distance.
Upper Scioto Valley added to its lead with interior scoring from Beau Sanders, who finished inside the paint as the teams traded baskets for much of the game.
Despite Waynesfield-Goshen’s ability to hang around, the Rams made key plays down the stretch to secure the win.
Upper Scioto Valley’s balanced scoring and steady offense proved decisive as it closed out the 53-45 victory.
