Van Buren tops Riverdale in four sets to improve to 9-2

VAN BUREN — After a six-game road stretch, Van Buren made a strong return home with a 3-1 victory over Riverdale in Blanchard Valley Conference play.
The Black Knights trailed early in the third set, but Brooklyn Wilkin closed the gap with one of her 22 kills on the night. Riverdale countered behind Paige Courtad’s ace and a block at the net from Carly Karcher to build a four-point advantage.
From there, Van Buren took control. Selma Brant powered the offense with 19 kills, helping the Black Knights rally to win the final sets and secure the match.
Van Buren claimed the victory by a 3-1 margin, improving its record to 9-2 on the season.
