November 4, 2026, Press Release from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office:

HARDIN COUNTY, Ohio - On the afternoon of November 3, 2026, at approximately 3:39 PM, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding an armed and intoxicated male experiencing a mental health crisis at a residence on Township Road 180.

The response was heightened due to the subject’s criminal history. In addition to experiencing a mental health crisis, the individual was a known felon with multiple active arrest warrants who was illegally armed with several firearms, creating a high-risk situation for both neighbors and responding deputies.

Upon arrival, deputies established a perimeter around the property. An occupant inside the residence was able to safely evacuate through a window without injury and was escorted to safety by responding officers.

Due to the presence of firearms inside the residence and the subject’s barricaded status, additional specialized resources were deployed to the scene, including the Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT), drone operations, and local emergency medical services. Nearby roadways, including sections of Township Road 180 between State Route 68 and County Road 115, were temporarily closed to ensure public safety.

After negotiations and tactical measures, including the deployment of a non-lethal chemical agent, the situation was brought to a resolution without further threat to the community with the subject Robert Ferriman taken into custody without further incident.

Further details regarding potential charges will be released as the investigation continues.
