LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Area faith organizations got a financial boost on Wednesday thanks to Activate Allen County and Mercy Health St. Rita's.

14 faith-based organizations awarded grant money through community challenge

14 local faith organizations were each awarded a $1,000 grant as part of the Activated Faith Community Challenge. The challenge is an opportunity to for faith-based organizations to increase their support of the health and well being of their constituents by providing financial support and resources.

This is the 7th year for the Activated Faith Community Challenge, and each year gets more competitive among applicants to make the cut.

"We had over 30 applications for the challenge; it's still it's growing every year," said Chad Welker, associate director of Activate Allen County. "This is the seventh year we've done it, and every year we've had more applications from the year prior. They're a cornerstone of our communities - they are a lot of times the front lines of who is meeting our community where they're at, and so we want to make sure that we are supporting as much as we can."

  • Elm Street Church of the Nazarene
  • Family Promise of Lima- Allen County
  • Greater Christ Temple
  • Kairos of Ohio (AOCI)
  • Lima Community Church
  • New Creation Lutheran Church (Ada)
  • New Life Christian Ministries
  • Pandora United Methodist Church
  • St. Mary's Christian Preschool (Bluffton)
  • St. Paul United Church of Christ (Wapak)
  • Zion Lutheran Church
