BLUFFTON, Ohio (WLIO) - Bluffton University has announced its next president.

The 11th president will be Dr. Alex Sider, who has been serving as interim president since February of this year. He joined the Bluffton faculty in 2006 and has held various roles. The university is coming out of the failed merger with the University of Findlay and he says the mission of education at Bluffton will be in the framework of four themes.

"We're focusing here this year on four themes - stability, trust, hope, compassion," said Dr. Sider. "Those are themes that we hear from folks at the Gallup organization as things that people who are associated with institutions, communities, neighborhoods, schools, businesses, that they need their leaders to provide. We're we're focused on making sure that Bluffton is a place that both provides that sort of thing for the people associated with it, as well as equips our students to be the kinds of leaders who provide that for for their organizations as well."

Dr. Sider adds he is committed to leading with strong values and focus on the bright futures of Bluffton University students.

Dr. Sider's official inauguration will kick off homecoming weekend on Thursday, October 2nd. Seating is limited and RSVP is required.
