August 1, 2025, Press Release from Nutrien:
LIMA, Ohio - Three local non-profit organizations have been named as finalists for Nutrien's $70,000 grant, marking 70 years of production at Nutrien's Lima Nitrogen manufacturing operations in Shawnee township. Since ammonia production first began at the site in 1955, the Lima facility has played a vital role in producing fertilizers that help farmers grow nutritious crops, support local agriculture and contribute to the global food supply.
The grant finalists are as follows:
- Allen County Agricultural Society - project to create a "farm" themed children's park and inclusive family space at the Allen County Fairgrounds.
- Andrew's House of Hope - project to open a second women's home offering housing and program at a higher level of independence.
- Lima Equestrian Therapy - establish scholarships for participants unable to pay the tuition for equine facilitated activities and therapies.
"To celebrate our 70-year legacy in Lima, Nutrien invited proposals for a $70,000 one- time grant aimed at creating lasting, positive change in our community," said Todd Sutton, general manager at Lima. "Our team of 210 employees thoughtfully selected finalists whose projects truly embody Nutrien's commitment to community partnership, shared values, and building a brighter future together. We are honored to support initiatives that help make this community stronger for generations to come."
The grant finalists will make a final pitch for their projects at an employee Town Hall meeting in September, with Nutrien employees voting for the final selection in October.
