LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Beautiful flowers are helping to bring beautiful music to area youth.
The Friends of the Symphony distributed geraniums and ferns this week as part of their annual plant sale, the group’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The event has been held for about 40 years.
Proceeds from the sale support local music education programs, including Mornings with the Maestro and story times at area libraries. Funds also help cover the cost of bringing guest musicians to the community.
“We mostly focus on the young people. And when we have young artists come in, we like to sponsor them, and the cost that it takes to bring them in and their room and board and so forth,” says Jean Zink, president of Friends of the Symphony.
Proceeds from the sale support local music education programs, including Mornings with the Maestro and story times at area libraries.
The group will return in August with its annual mum sale. Details will be posted on the Lima Symphony Orchestra’s Facebook page.
