LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima City Schools held its annual back to school celebration and school supply giveaway on Tuesday afternoon.
Families were invited into lima senior high school for a chance to grab books, pencils, crayons, and other school supplies to get ready for the upcoming year. Families could also participate in games and activities, like face painting. Beanie and Sparty were there as well to greet the students.
Attendees could also get free food, and the event was planned to house a few thousand, as throngs of people lined the halls to get a chance to get ready for the new school year.
"We're a week away from school, so we're excited, this time next week kids will be laying down, and that following morning, next Wednesday morning, students will be starting school, buses will be out rolling, staff will be in buildings ready to go, and kids will be starting school," said Andre Rudolph, superintendent of Lima City Schools. "We're really excited, we're about a week away from the start, and this is an opportunity for our kids to get everything that they need to start the year and be successful for the start of the school year."
School starts back up for Lima City Schools students on Wednesday, August 19th.
