LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – Several Lima organizations are teaming up to help students start the school year prepared and confident.
Fresh and Faded Team Outreach, the South Lima Community Development Corporation, LACNIP, and the Martin Luther King Neighborhood Association have each held back-to-school events in the past. This year, they're joining forces for one large community celebration.
“It's important that everyone has school supplies and materials for school so that they can get an education. We’ll have entertainment for for the people. We have vendors there. We give away shoes. Khalil Lester be giving away shoes. South Lima and the MLK will be giving away uniforms and things also,” said Leandra Johnson of Fresh and Faded Team Outreach.
The Back 2 School Block Party is set for this Sunday, August 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lima Amphitheater, located at 128 E. Spring Street.
In addition to free food, school supplies, uniforms, and entertainment, Lima Senior alumnus Khalil Luster will host his third annual shoe giveaway during the event.
