LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The Lima Noon Sertoma Club gathered outdoors to celebrate and give thanks during its annual Speech and Hearing Clinic picnic, honoring the families and children who participated in this year’s summer program.

The club has offered the clinic for more than 40 years. The five-week, 10-session program pairs families with a licensed speech-language pathologist to help children maintain progress in their therapy during the summer break. Sessions are held at two locations — one in Lima and one in Delphos.

“Where they can continue their speech practice, and we go through different schools and different locations, so we're just trying to help the kids stay within touch and not have that large gap throughout the summer,” said Tasha Miller, secretary and treasurer for the Lima Noon Sertoma Club.

The event also served as a time of remembrance for longtime member Marty McCaslin, who passed away in 2023. The club honored his memory by dedicating a bench at the Sertoma Shelter House by the pond in Faurot Park. McCaslin was a member of the club for 50 years and had perfect attendance at the time of his passing.
