OTTAWA, Ohio (WLIO) – With sunny skies and warm weather, it was the perfect day for Lunch in the Park.

The Ottawa Senior Center hosted its lunchtime fundraiser Thursday at its location in Water Works Park. The event is one of about a half dozen fundraisers the center organizes throughout the year.

The Ottawa Senior Center offers a wide range of educational and social programming aimed at helping Putnam County seniors stay connected and healthy.

The event is one of about a half dozen fundraisers the center organizes throughout the year.

“They can play cards. There's games and activities for people to do. We do have a nice little shop that has crafts in it that are made monthly by the seniors. We still do quilting here, and then we also do some greeting card making. Our cards are really reasonable. They're only 50 cents a piece, so just things to keep the seniors active. We also have programming scheduled for people to come in to learn about things that can make seniors healthier,” says Phyllis Steele, Board President, Ottawa Senior Citizens Association.

The next Lunch in the Park is scheduled for August 21st at the Senior Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for anyone interested in browsing the crafts or greeting cards available for purchase.
