CELINA, Ohio (WLIO) - Boats from all over the world will hitting Grand Lake Saint Marys to test their speed at the Governor’s Cup Regatta. The event will be Saturday and Sunday June 20 and 21 along Lakeshore Drive in Celina. It is a one-of-a-kind event for the state of Ohio, as some of the boats will be reaching 130 miles per hour on their way to capture the checkered flag. It is free to watch the racing, and there are a lot of other things to do that are not on the water.
“We will have food vendors, craft vendors, car shows. So, there is a lot to do even if you are not into the boat racing side. We have plenty to do for everybody. Just bring a lawn chair, we will have some bleachers set up, so you can set on those. Enjoy the day or the weekend,” says Rich McNaughton, Governor’s Cup Committee.
The racing begins at noon on June 20th and practices laps will start at 10. For more information go to www.governorscupregatta.com.
